Peeved Parents Protest Harmony School of Nature Public Charter School Friday April 24, 2015 April 24, 2015 Dallas, Texas – Peeved Parents of students at Harmony School of Nature will express their frustration to a low quality of education and their children’s Civil Rights being violated by the complete disregard of the (IDEA) Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 1975. The student’s Federally protected right to a (FAPE) Free and Appropriate Public Education is being ignored because Teachers routinely choose to not follow the 504 Plans or (IEP) Individualized Education Program of the students with disabilities and the Administrators are burying their heads in the sand on the matter. A demonstration in protest of these discriminatory acts (these unjust or prejudicial treatments) will be held Friday April 24, 2015 from 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Harmony School of Nature - 8120 W. Camp Wisdom Rd, Dallas, TX 75249. A Free Appropriate Public Education is an educational right of children with disabilities here in the United States that is guaranteed by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. This means that students with a disability are entitled to an education that is tailored to their learning level or exceptionality. Additionally, that law states that ”no qualified individual with a disability shall, by reason of such disability, be excluded from participation in or be denied the benefits of the services, programs, or activities of a public entity, or be subjected to discrimination by any such entity. Even though the Law protects the students’ right, Harmony Public Charter Schools has systematically permitted its teachers to blatantly violate their rights. The teachers do not follow the students’ plans. This hinders the learning process of the students with disabilities that need these alternative methods, modifications, or accommodations to learn. Most times the plans simply call for additional time or shortened assignments. But the lack of these modifications and accommodations cause the students to become overwhelmed, struggle with their assignments, fail classes, and fail the State Tests. Furthermore, the Administration has ignored parent concerns and even played a part in suppressing complaints and driving students away. On Friday parents will take a stand against this heinous violation of Civil Rights. On Friday parents will take a stand for their children’s education and their children’s future. On Friday the parents will protest Harmony’s discrimination against students with learning disabilities. A.Morgan Lyles (469) 222-1812 Email: Educate504now@gmail.com

I would love to work for your station. I have my BA in communications from Temple University. When I did my internship at jazz station in Philadelphia I knew my voice belongs on radio. I've been procrastinating and since I listen to this station I would love to bring my talents
