Dear Radio Announcer, We'd like to let the people in Van Horn, TX, know that a ladies singing group, The Steel Magnolias, from San Marcos, TX, will be presenting a fully choreographed southern gospel music concert on Sunday, October 22nd at the Van Horn City Park. The group will be part of an all day "Worship in the Park" event bringing together all the churches in the area to be part of a day of prayer. The Steel Magnolias have traveled extensively throughout the United States and at the time of coming to Van Horn, they will be on their last day of a 16 day Pacific Northwest Tour, singing 37 times, over 5800 miles. The group performs in Churches, VA Hospitals, Men and Women Prisons, Disaster Relief Benefits, Senior Living Facilities, God and Country Celebrations, and has done hundreds of "Flash Mobs" in New York City at Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, the Statue of Liberty Ferry, the new One World Tower NYC, the Grand Canyon, and will be presenting ten such programs on this upcoming tour. The pastor, Jerry Donavan, of the First United Methodist Church, Van Horn, is coordinating the "Worship in the Park" event on Sunday, October 22nd, and invites everyone to come. The churches will convene at 10 a.m. and there will be a pot luck luncheon at noon. The City park is located at 200 East 3rd St., Van Horn.
