Listener Comments and Reviews

We are a Wellness Company in Hudson OH that is working with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to prevent Type 2 diabetes. We are launching a program in conjunction with the CDC to help people with prediabetes avoid becoming a person with diabetes. Several years ago, the CDC launched a National Diabetes Prevention Program in an effort to reduce the growing incidence of diabetes. This effort is based on a 2002 study conducted by the National Institutes of Health that showed that the risk of diabetes can be cut in half if a person with prediabetes reduces their body weight by 5-7%. GemCare Wellness has partnered with the CDC to offer a program to help people with prediabetes lose 5-7% of their body weight. The program is a year long course that starts in January. Classes will be held at the Barlow Community Center in Hudson. Many insurances are covering the cost of the program, but GemCare Wellness will be offering this program free to the first 20 people who register, a value of $429. In addition, the Summit County Public Health has also offered to sponsor individuals who qualify. There are 16 hour long sessions conducted by one of our Registered Dietitians. Courses will be held each week for 16 weeks in the first 6 months, then there are follow up courses for the next 6 months. To qualify, a person must have been diagnosed with prediabetes or have completed a risk assessment that identifys someone who is at risk. There is more information on our program at www.gemcarewellness.com/cdc We would love if your radio station would make a public announcement about our program. The first classes begin on January 17 at 6:00 pm at the Barlow Community Center in Hudson OH. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions. Sincerely, Doug Kuzyk. I can be reached at 234-380-8980.
