40th Annual Festival of Music & Lights
Presents “Christmas with Selah”
The 40th Annual Festival of Music and Lights Christmas Concerts presents this year the award-winning contemporary Christian vocal trio, Selah. Selah was formed in 1997 by brother and sister Todd & Nicole Smith (now Nicole Sponberg) and their friend Allan Hall. Nicole left the group in 2004 to pursue a solo career and to join her new husband in the seminary. Amy Perry soon became a full time member of the trio along with Todd and Allen. Their first album “Be Still My Soul”, was released in 1999 leading to high success of the group. They earned the reputation for being able to reveal the heart of any song they recorded, transforming even old Christian hymns into a modern style with their profound voices and beautiful harmonies. Their second album “Press On” was released in 2001, and also won a Dove Award, along with many nominations for individual songs in the album. More than four million albums and single Selah recordings have been sold to date. Their latest album, “You Amaze Us”, has been nominated as the gospel music association 2014 inspirational song of the year.
The amazing, acclaimed group will present “Christmas with Selah” as part of their national Christmas tour at three concerts at the Calimesa SDA Church, 4th & Myrtlewood Dr., Calimesa on Friday December 19 at 6 p.m. and Saturday December, 20 at 4 p.m. & 7 p.m. Recorded information about these concerts is available by calling the Calimesa concert series line (909) 795-4960.
All concerts require tickets which much be purchased in advance. Reserved seating tickets ($20, $15, $10) are available via the internet (itickets.com) or by calling 800-965-9324 to place an order. Most major credit cards are accepted. No tickets will be sold at the door. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to purchase tickets early for best seating since seating is limited.
As is customary, the sanctuary will be decorated in a stunning beautifulfashion for the Christmas holidays using the traditional reds and greens. Following each concert, the audience is invited to remain for fellowship and refreshments in the festively decorated fellowship hall. Some people attend annually for the sheer beauty of the sanctuary.
Joining these Calimesa Community Christmas concerts will be violinist, Aimee Hechanova, organists Philip Hoch and Michael Fillman, and trumpeter, Gio Santos. It will truly be an evening filled with the music of Christmas not neglecting some of the signature songs of Selah. Purchasing tickets for family members, neighbors, and friends may make a delightful Christmas present.
