Saturday night 10:30 PM 5/24/14 One of those memorable nights we have all had; spinning the dial and finding a great radio show. I came upon 98.1 by accident and was taken by the choice of great rock and roll and no commercials. Neil Young, Creedence, Loggins and Messina; they are all there. One of those radio stations that makes you think "there must be incredible people in this city to generate this spirit..."
By: peter on May 25, 2014

98.1FM; What a great station! I like that you play artist tracks that are outside the typical top 40 oldies & no commercials. I am telling my friends & co-works about your station. I listen in Sahuarita & central Tucson. If I could make a suggestion. I would like to listen, make requests & see song info online if possible. Thanks, John
By: John Jolly on May 29, 2014

Holy cow. I just found you by accident and can't believe what I'm hearing. As the former CD of a local broadcast group and local singer/songwriter I can't tell you how much I love your playlist! Killer classic rock. No crap, just great stuff. Reminds me of KDKB (in Phx where I grew up) in the '70's. Classic. Amazing. Wonderful. FYI, I live in Tucson near Craycroft and Sunrise and your signal was great. I gotta tell you, I haven't listened to music radio in years. I am NPR all day/every day. But your music will keep me listening. Keep up the great work! BTW, I'm gonna jump back in the car and drive around for a while just to listen. That's how much I dig you. Wish I could stream you. Rock on, SP

Great work! 270 Watts of pure joy!!!
By: Keep on Truckin'... on June 8, 2014

Another chance finder of your fabulous station I am keeping my radio tuned in everywhere I go. You are right up our alley enjoying it all. Thank you thank you. We'll spread the word and hope for your continued independence! !
By: Anonymous on June 8, 2014

Reminds me of listening to the early days of FM -- happened upon the station by accident and it's now a pre-set at home and in the car. Love it!
By: Anonymous on June 8, 2014

Found the station by accident last weekend, it is by far my favorite station in the Tucson area. Playlists you don't hear anymore, there are a lot of people your station will attract once they know about it.
By: Marty on June 10, 2014

I'm pleased I found this station. Great music and best of all no commercials! I have it tuned in both my car radios and we listen to it at work. Thanks!!
By: Conrad on June 15, 2014

thank you for existing, I no longer have to listen to the same old crap over and over again.
By: drew on June 16, 2014

Couldn't believe what I was hearing. You guys restored my faith in radio!
By: Anonymous on June 16, 2014

I love this station! I'm in Green Valley and want to share it with some friends across the country (I used to travel for a living). Can they stream it somehow on the Magic Machine?? Thank you for playing songs that were on the REST of the album! =ha= -E
By: Betty Meyers on June 20, 2014

WOW! Came upon this by surprise LOVE IT!!! Its my at work station now!! :)
By: LM on June 20, 2014

Your station is so great...just found it...never, ever, ever change...I hear music I have not heard in years, really good stuff that "gets forgotten"...I hear music I never heard and really love it...great programming...never annoying...always satisfying : O ) muchas, muchas gracias!!
By: Carol Sepe on June 20, 2014

I have been waiting for a station like this for years. It reminds me of when FM stations first started broadcasting in the 60's. No Top 40, better music. Even when you eventually start running ads, I will be a listener. By the way, you can pick up the station all the way to I-10.
By: John Doucette on June 23, 2014

Yep, have to agree this is the modern version of Krazy Dog, Krazy Boy in the early 70's. Kinda album based but much more variety. I have been listening for about 3 days now and am very pleased with the mix, style, tenor, variety, beat, rhythm. And of course, the little, to no wall-to-wall advertising or non-stop babbling. So, kudos - hope the financing holds up cause we're all out here - hearing, listening and rockin' to the beat :) Thanks
By: Bill Beebe on June 28, 2014

gotta Stream the Dream -- I have to travel frequently and would like to carry a bit more greatness....... and a playlist too.. some of the music is certainly worth finding. Oh, and ya, you need more WATTS.. how can we help?
By: Bill Beebe on June 28, 2014

So... the buzz is very good... 98.1 is catching on like wildfire...! So... will you be playing any Commander Cody - Marshall Tucker - Pure Prairie League - Dusty Chaps - Elvin Bishop - Bill Kirchen - Chuck Wagon and the Wheels...? ...(wink)...
By: Chuck Wagon Maultsby on June 29, 2014

found you by sheer accident and I love your music reminds me of college fm stations late 60s early 70s whoever puts the playlist together is a true rock lover and I live in tucson and listen at least 2 to 3 hours a day must be some serious hipsters in Tubac. thanks for the great tunes!!
By: Mark L. on June 30, 2014

I just moved to Green Valley from Maryland on June 5th; lst nite in the house, my dogs & I were desperate for some music & only had a radio. 1st station I happened on was yours & I still can't believe my ears! You've only added to the sense that I've landed on another planet. It's obvious someone (or more) has a deep knowledge & love of music & is putting a real effort into the plays. Incredibly good. In just a few hours this a.m. heard my favorite song ("Twilight") from my favorite ELO album, very early Beatles, Talking Heads & Clash, as well as great stuff I've never heard before. Please don't stop. Don't know who's funding the station; I'd gladly donate. I won't stop listening here & in my car.
By: Terrie Hodson on July 1, 2014

I second all of the previous comments! Thanks for playing such great music, the "other" tracks on the albums, and the great bands that never get played anymore.
By: anonymous on July 4, 2014

Hear,Hear on all the comments. I agree with all! I dont know how you are staying on the air without commercials, but I will contribute any way I can to keep a great station.Great Job ! Keep it coming. Thanx.
By: Don Allen Jr. on July 8, 2014

Thank you so much - FINALLY, a decent radio station in Southern Arizona. I also found you by accident today. Please, please stay on the air and don't change your musical format like 92.9 did. I would be happy to donate as well. Great to hear just music and no commercials. And what great music, too.
By: L. Zipf on July 10, 2014

I'm GOING TO TELL MY FIRENDS! GREAT JOB!
By: SCOTT on July 11, 2014

As good as it gets...The old KWFM from the 70's, classic!
By: Art on July 17, 2014

Thank God for 98.1 KTBX! Also found you by accident, I'm transplanted from So Cal and was lost on redundency rock, "F" that! Reminds Me of KMET "The Mighty Met" in So Cal back in the day! WOW, never thought I would hear that sound again, a channel with Balls, What a Bitchin Station! Please dont sell out to corporate! Thank You!
By: Bryan on July 17, 2014

Someone (Ted?) hit the shuffle button or change the play list please. The play list is great but it has been repeating for several days. Thanks for the commercial free music.
By: John Jolly on July 22, 2014

Thank you for fabulous music. You make my days energetic & happy. Keep up the great work.
By: Sharyn on July 30, 2014

Like many others, I stumbled onto this station. The best classic rock without commercial interruption! Keep up the great work... I'm sharing this on my social media outlets!
By: renee villani on August 2, 2014

I found you guys like many others here, by accident. Once I found you I rarely listen to anything else on the fm band. I grew up in Chicago and was exposed to great (not commercial free but great dj's) radio stations like WLS & WCFL. Please keep playing your great selections. I keep spreading the word that KTBX is a great radio station.
By: ChicagoMike on August 3, 2014

just put up antenna at my house to pick you up, great just to put on and let run commercial free. Robert Amado,az
By: robert on August 10, 2014

I, like alot of your listeners found the station by accident. And how fortunate I feel to have done so!! Just absolutely an awesome station. The best music and no BS! I can only hope that you are on the air for a long time! Working at the mine here in green Valley is so much more enjoyable now. Thanks
By: Ralph h on August 11, 2014

I wonder how to get a hold of their play list. There was a song that played on Aug. 08 2014 at around 12:40, and I don't know the artist but in the lyrics it was saying and I will cry....wish I could get a hold of a DJ.LOVE THIS STATION!!!
By: vanessa on August 12, 2014

This station is amazing! Brian Eno, Moody Blues, Grateful Dead! You guys rock! The last time there was a great station like this was KWFM in the 1970's! I love you guys!
By: Christopher pesqueira on August 17, 2014

I also recently discovered this station by accident. This may be the greatest FM station I have ever heard, and I used to listen to the great KMET back in the day. My only complaint is signal strength. Every FM rock station should have a 10,000 song playlist, because there are at least that many good songs. Why do they all trot out their "long" playlist of 500 songs for the Memorial 500, or July 4th A-Z, but the rest of the year we have to suffer with the same old tired 40 song playlist?
By: Scott Freeman on August 19, 2014

I have lived in Green Valley now for 6 years and never new about 98.1 until this year. This is a solid rock and roll station with good variety. Everything from Gary Numan to Zeppelin. Keep it going!
By: Chris on August 25, 2014

Oh no! Cry of anguish -- where have you gone? Off the air all day. I pray it's just temporary. Pleeease come back!
By: Terrie Hodson on August 25, 2014

I tried in vain to tune in 98.1 on two car stereos today. If this is the end, I hope someone will post up the full story of KTBX, how it was born and how it died. :(
By: Scott Freeman on August 26, 2014

where are you old friend...so suddenly not there...my day is now BORING!!!. Your music amazed and soothed everyone..what can we all do to get you back????? Camille
By: camille on August 26, 2014

Where did u go ??? miss the good tuneage
By: B-O-B on August 26, 2014

Wha...? No sign off? No adios Amigos? And I was just honest to God praising KTBX just Sunday night to another musician. Why?
By: Dad Dad Daddio on August 26, 2014

Just discovered this station a couple of months ago & have been tuned in ever since. Love stations that play the deep cuts off albums that we haven't heard in years (and so few do). I keep checking every day to see if KTBX is back on the air & I'm praying the silence is only temporary (like maybe equipment got damaged during one of the recent storms) because it would be such a shame to permanently lose this treasure.
By: Margo on August 27, 2014

I just discovered this station a few weeks ago and loved the music, no commercials, or mindless d.j. talk. What happened? Since 8/25 nothing! I hope this is just temporary because this is a great station.
By: Deirdre on August 27, 2014

I love this station. Such a great variety of bands and so many great tracks from the past that I have not heard in years.
By: Jim Waters on August 28, 2014

PLEASE COME BACK!!!! I started listening to radio again once I was told about this station. I'll even listen to commercials. Heck, I'll recommend to some business owners that I know that they should advertise on this station.
By: John D on August 28, 2014

welcome back. Missed you baby.
By: dad dad daddio on August 29, 2014

Happy Happy Joy Joy! So great to have KTBX back on the air! Rock on
By: Margo on August 29, 2014

Well, my day was just made when I turned on the radio in my kitchen & there you were again -- YAY!! Tubac & Green Valley rejoice!
By: Terrie Hodson on August 29, 2014

Like many others have mentioned, I found this station by accident and am SO glad I did. It is the station I now listen to all the time. Great deep cuts and songs from artists I haven't heard in years (King Crimson, Martha & the Muffins just to name a few). I am glad you are back on the air after several days offline. Keep up the GREAT work!!!
By: Tom on September 2, 2014

This is a dysfunctional relationship! You came into my life unexpectedly. You are unreliable, you have no source of income, no communication skills, you disappear without warning, but yet I love you, and you are the first station that I turn to, hoping to hear from you again. You are like one of my old boyfriends from the 1970s! But better, because I don't have to feed you. 98.1: please come back.
By: Genie on September 4, 2014

To Genie - well said - my sentiments exactly!! I'm still waiting & hoping he'll turn up on my auditory doorstep again.
By: Terrie Hodson on September 4, 2014

Genie you're a riot.
By: Dad Dad Daddio on September 5, 2014

Not on air during the work week. But, Saturday (sept 6) the awesome station returned to my ear drums.
By: go well on September 7, 2014

I can't believe how good this station is!!! I've been waiting for something like this since I left the Bay Area years and years ago. 98.1 is just as I remember old FM Radio was...outstanding playlist with lots of surprises. NEEDS MORE WATTS PLEASE!!!!
By: Kitti Rollie on September 11, 2014

I was wondering if I could find out the playlist from 9-15 from 8:30pm-9pm... There was a certain song I'm trying to remember from that time frame which has escaped me today 😊 and I'm going out of my mind lol (kinda like trying to remember someone's name that's at the tip of your tongue)... Is this at all possible?? Love the station and listen to it everytime I'm driving!! Thanks for the fun!!
By: Anonymous on September 17, 2014

Has to be the best radio station that I've listen to since the seventies. Keep it up!!
By: Randy Long on September 19, 2014

Wonderful. The good old days of music are still alive and well.
By: Rich on September 21, 2014

no better music anywhere on any channel, but hope that the variety will return soon as possible. it seems that every day remains the same the last several days.i hope that this is due to vacation or just getting alot more great music together for the long run.
By: dave on September 23, 2014

just discovered your station and love it dearly. You rock for me. I'm 67 and everything works for me on 98.1 Thanks
By: terry fraze on October 2, 2014

Two words . LOVE IT ! Of coarse I Have Questions ,why ? Because who ever is doing this deserves an award !
By: john Radcliffe on October 7, 2014

WOW, best radio station I've listened to since WNEW and Alison Steele,The Nightbird. Keep rockin this 65 year old. You need a web site.
By: Tom on October 11, 2014

Can't believe this station, its as if I'm playing all my old LP's.
By: Elizabeth on October 14, 2014

Love it!!!!! Cant get you in Marana though, please crank the watts so all of southern Az can hear you. You need to get on facebook.... everytime your in range the radio goes to 98.1!!!!!!!!! ROCK ON!!!!!
By: Joel on October 16, 2014

I found this station by accident a few months ago and now I always listen to it so long as I can pick it up. I enjoy the variety of classic rock the station plays while occasionally mixing it up with classic R&B or alt. country. If the station does start advertising; I hope it's limited to small town commercials because they are by far more interesting than what you hear in Tucson.
By: JR on October 18, 2014

Can anyone tell me who performs the song they play about the "redneck family reunion in Kansas?" Only lyrics I can recall talk about loading the kids into the car and giving them some cherry coke and vodka and Benadryl. Also a lyric "gonna have a time". I gotta know!!!
By: DanO on October 20, 2014

I found your station when I restarted walking in the mornings. After KFMA decided southern Arizona wasn't worth their time and moved their transmitter, I went to my Ipod, but just don't have the time to keep adding new music. I found your station last week, and like the wide range of music, but since I only listen when I powerwalk in the early morning, I discovered you play the exact same playlist several days in a row...so...guess I'm walking without music.
By: Linda on October 21, 2014

I love this station. It's the only thing I have tuned on my radio at home. I found you in May and played you non-stop all summer in my truck. September you left, my truck radio died. Sad, so sad!! My boyfriend emails me at work and tells me your back. Playing you right now in the center of Tucson, AZ. I love the eclectic format of 60's, 70's and 80's with some top hits, but a lot of progressive rock. My dogs love ya too.
By: Deborah on October 22, 2014

Fantastic music...real music. Do you stream on the web?
By: Marsha on October 25, 2014

Sirius/XM Deep Tracks without the monthly subscription. Am I back in college, again?
By: JB on October 25, 2014

By: Della Ellis on October 25, 2014

So glad to have found your station!! You're now my favorite radio station. Good job!
By: Barbara on October 27, 2014

Bad ass music found by accident jeep it up
By: rick on October 28, 2014

Love your station. Finally Tucson has a radio station I can listen to. I found your sister station as well 103.1 KCDX Florence. FANTASTIC music!!! Keep it up!! Don't change a thing
By: Tom on November 1, 2014

A public radio station with a great rock playlist and no commercials! Since relocating from Los Angeles ten years ago we truly recognize the value of having this asset in this over-the-air-waves, rock and roll wasteland we call home. Rock on KTBX, rock on for many years to come.
By: Steven W on November 6, 2014

All I can Say is Wow! My Ears have been Redeemed! Like others, Found while Dial Spinning! My advice: Plug your Radio in, Tune to 98.1 and Rip the Damned Knob Off!
By: Mr. Garrison Painting on November 9, 2014

To Dan on Oct. 20th - The name of the song is "Choctaw Bingo" by Ray Wylie Hubbard. In regards to the playlist, if you go to kcdx.com, the KTBX playlist mirrors the songs on that website. KCDX has been around for awhile. You can find it at 103.1 FM as you drive up to Phoenix. To all the "oldies" in the Old Pueblo, we get to hear the Bob Meighan Band and Jerry Riopelle on KTBX. KTBX is like the old KWFA radio station. To KTBX - keeping on rockin' in the free world!
By: Mick Mathieu on November 10, 2014

Great Music. Well done Heard a song from a movie sound track on Sat the 15th of Nov.Cant remember the name no lyrics gust a great set of duel lead guitars working together .Music to my ears
By: Bruce on November 18, 2014

What a great radio station. I too found this station by accident while reprogramming the local stations on my A/V receiver. I love the variety of music. It's the right vibe for whatever I'm doing while listening to the radio. Finally, being commercial free is such a great gift to those living along the I-19 corridor. Thank you, Mr. Tucker.
By: Roger E on November 21, 2014

The marriage of absolute genius and excellent taste! I listen whenever I can in the car or at home. As the youngest of boomer siblings, in the 60s I woke up each morning listening to vinyl versions of many of the tracks played on this station. I love the absence of the obvious in favor of "deep cuts" from classic albums and artists. And of course, I greatly appreciate the 70s and 80s repertoire - so sweet.
By: Kelly on November 23, 2014

I've been listening for the last six weeks or so since coming across your station on my car radio. It's wonderful and has taken the place of KXCI as my first choice when I go for a drive. There's only one station I've ever found like it, 103.1 FM, which I can pick up starting around Marana up to Scottsdale on a good day. I can find some info on that one on line, but other than being able to track down the owner in Jackson, Wyoming (Ted Tucker), I know nothing about it. Please keep broadcasting.
By: Steve T on November 26, 2014

I came across the station for the first time on my way back from a gig in Marana, 8:30 PM eastbound on Skyline in Tucson!! What a lovely surprise - classic style deep cut free form FM radio, I grew up with KMET and KLOS in LA in their heydays and this station takes me back. I can't believe it reached most of Tucson at that low wattage but I'm grateful and glad. Keep up the great work - you've struck a nerve and are quenching a thirst KLPX cannot begin to
By: LLL on December 1, 2014

The music selection on 98.1 is fantastic! Love the variety and lack of commercials - that is to say none. Tuned in at the suggestion of a friend and have been smitten since. Please don't ever take this gift away from us. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU.
By: Kermit on December 4, 2014

This radio channels the spirit of the Southwest. From Arivaca to Tucson, TBX mixes and remixes five decades of some of the deepest, most obscure, vinyl tracks with just the right layering of yesteryear's forgotten pop. Completely unpredictable and always incredibly satisfying. THIS is music!
By: PJM on December 6, 2014

Hi first time that i live in Tucson after 6 years that i actually got happy. Music I love without the commercials. I listen even when it gets static. If i can donate funds after hungry and homeless it will be to boost the WATTS.
By: Karen on December 9, 2014

The owners must have local connections. They occasionally play some Jerry Riopelle tunes. Holding my breath until the commercials start..............
By: JB on December 14, 2014

Reminds me of Kwfm from the 70s in tucson. Love it.hope these guys stick around!
By: Larry Van Zandt on December 15, 2014

To hear Mink Deville , Zeppelin, Arc Angels, Mott all in one place...Fantastic!! Haven't heard Delta Lady by Leon Russell in years. Even heard the Vibrators once. Keep up the good work.
By: Chuck on December 16, 2014

Another vote of support for a Great station.
By: walmartman on December 18, 2014

Just found you by accident. Awesome! DONT STOP!!
By: Antonio on December 29, 2014

Just awesome. So many tunes that I've forgoton......I can't believe that a radio station can pump out such great music without commercials though..I'm afraid to get hooked. How long can this last?
By: Jay on January 5, 2015

I randomly came across this station and it quickly became my favorite. Classic rock and really goes into each artist. Keep up the great work!
By: Ryan on January 5, 2015

As a long time resident of Tucson, listening to this station reminds me of the glory days of Tucson broadcasting. I am talking KWFM circa 1970, when album cuts where played and the music was always fresh. Heard Savoy Brown's "Tell Mama" and almost fell out of the car !! Keep it coming ! Kudos and THANK YOU.
By: Greg on January 10, 2015

Please oh Please where can i get playlists. i here a bunch of songs i dont know but would love to find out what they are. thanks
By: cc on January 10, 2015

found you by accident on car radio! What a great station!!!! Up here in Oro Valley I still get too much static...but I'm willing to bear with that to get the snippets of all your great tunes! Love hearing the moody blues on it too!!! Please start to stream, I want to hear you In the house!!! Please oh please....I can then share you with our Chicago connection too!!! Keep up the fab mix of music!!!! Love u guys!
By: Luckytohavefoundu on January 10, 2015

Seems like everyone here finds you by chance, me too. I live north of sasabee and can get your station here and there depending on where I am driving. Your selection is do great. Keep it up!
By: phish phan on January 15, 2015

Thanks so much for variety of music. Wish 98.3 was off the air since hard to tune in sometimes. Long live rock. Big Who fan.

By: Claire on January 23, 2015

from the midwest and out here for my annual visit. Found you by accident and it is the highlight of my trip. A welcome addition to Tucson radio. Keep it up
By: howard on January 24, 2015

I think like everyone else has said. I found you all by accident. It's no accident that people are desperately seeking a station that plays good music. It's not so much the good music but the people know how to play the music. It's as if they know what you want to hear. The crap they play all across the country is just mindlessness. No soul behind it just a computer in charge. Thanks a ton !!!
By: Brendon on January 24, 2015

Thanks for playing Pete Townshend and The Who. Could you play something from Garland Jefferies. Haven't heard any of his songs for a long time. Keep the great music coming!
By: Roberta DeMund on January 26, 2015

Not your typical "oldies" station. Your selection of music is great. Whom ever is doing this without commercials I thank. Are you related to KCDX 103.1 in the Phoenix area? Keep up the good work.
By: Enrique Sanchez on January 28, 2015

If Jim Ladd, J.J. Jackson, and the sweet voice of Dusty Street brings back memories of how FM radio used to be back in LA in the 70's, then 98.1 FM brings back these sounds without the commentary. This station is awesome and I am telling everyone I know.
By: Rockin N Tucson on January 30, 2015

Leon Russell, Supertramp, Midnight Oil, Allman Brother...kind of a a weird but great mix. It's like a 55 year old guy is spinning his LP's from his college days. I love it. But with no DJ's or ads...I don't expect it to last forever.
By: Windyguy on January 31, 2015

Like so many others, I stumbled upon KTBX by accident a few weeks ago, and totally concur with the positive assessments! I hate the typical, top 40 "classic rock" format, but this is greater than great. Talk about "deep cuts"! Yesterday, I heard "Fifty States of Freedom" from Brewer and Shipley's "Tarkio" album! Love that tune, and I hadn't heard it in more than 3 decades! Keep up the deep tracks. My only criticism, is that there is no way to find out the names of the tunes i don't know.
By: Joseph B. Gebler on February 6, 2015

Heard some classic BTO on the way to work. Loud and clear. way to go. I would love to hear some more 80s stuff as well. Any station that plays classic Dave Bowie is alright with me.
By: Jeff R on February 13, 2015

My daughter told me about this station 6 months ago,I couldn't pick up your signal at home (I live in east side of tucson)only in the car, then 1 day I got lucky, found the right spot in my home,I don't know how to express my feeling, but your station makes me and my grandson dance,I'm so happy, keep up the great work and that awesome music, you guys rock!!!!!
By: Tony Rodriguez on February 15, 2015

Thanks for playing The Buoys, Mama Let Him Play (some rock and roll). Still have the 45's or lp's of these. You are the best thing to come out of AZ in a long time. Thanks so much. I wish my memory would remember all the songs you play.
By: Roberta DeMund on February 20, 2015

Finally, a radio station worth listening to in the Tucson area. It makes the work day fly by. I've heard songs played I haven't heard in 30-plus years. Keep up the great music programming.
By: Chris Crites on February 23, 2015

I live in Phoenix. Was mountain biking in Tucson. Found the station, listened to it both days I was there. Please, please do what is necessary to stream online.
By: Dean Barney on February 23, 2015

By: Terrie Hodson on February 23, 2015

I heard a song a month or so back called In The Heartland. I thought it was the Beatles but have not been able to find it anywhere/ Who did the song and where can I locate it? If not the Beatles then I can't imagine who sounded so similar.Had to be from the 1960s thanks Dee

We were just hanging out at home one evening, and our little kiddos started randomly pushing the buttons on their iHome, and luckily found you! After a while, we realized there were some awesomely rockin' tunes coming from their room. Then we realized there were no commercials! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! We gave up on radio a long time ago, and you have restored our faith. Now I've got your station programmed onto every button on their iHome so that you are all that plays in their room. Next, the car! Keep rockin', because you TOTALLY RULE THE AIRWAVES!!

Dear DanO, Choctaw Bingo by James McMurtry. It's my absolute all-time favorite!
By: Peggy H on March 6, 2015

I agree with so many of the previous comments! You have made my first winter in the Tucson area SO much richer. Every morning on my bike ride down the Anza trail, I'm listening to music from my teen years with a HUGE smile on my face. I love hearing so many of the classic group 'B' sides as well...it makes you listen even closer. I'm already looking forward to my return next winter just to hear the great old songs again - keep up the great job you guys are doing.
By: Jeffrey on March 13, 2015

We love your station. We hope that you're planning to make your signal STRONGER. I weakens in more areas of Tucson then not. Also, I live in southwest Tucson and can't get it on my home radio. Please please make it stronger.
By: Cloriza Lomeli on March 13, 2015

Love the music keep it coming , anything I can do to help promote let me know.
By: Forrest Jackson on March 18, 2015

Omg does anyone know the song played recently- chorus was "I don't believe you anymore"? Can't find it online & I loved it!
By: Heather on March 18, 2015

Omg, the music of my youth! I love this station. Great job! I've been waiting for radio tunes like this... And to find it in my own back yard. All my old favorites and then some.
By: JR on March 20, 2015

Does your station stream from outside AZ?
By: Roberta D. on March 20, 2015

I haven't listened to "classic rock stations in years. It was always canned ham crap. The only thing even close to good up to now was Nights with Alice Cooper. You guys have far surpassed that. Keep Rockin'

Thanks to Mark and Steve and others, KCDX 103.1 really is the same current playlist. Nice reference when KTBX plays a song that intrigues you (many times that has happened, right?) and you need to know the artist or song. May have to refresh the screen after some time. KCDX.com maybe the best way to access. Big thanks for the info, guys. Thought I'd update newcomers.

Love this station! Just ran into it about a month ago. Listened to Bob Dylan tonight...love it..love it...love it!
By: Linda on April 3, 2015

We found out about your station a few months ago from a friend. We listen to this station evefy chance we get. Finding the right signal is like finding any sweet spot. We find ourselves moving the radio around to get the best ones. We are scooter trash so this is right up our alley. Been spreading the word brother, keep it up. We will test it on our ride to cottonwood next weekend on our 2010 ultra classis Electra glide...:)

Love the sound!
By: Bruce on April 14, 2015

I didn't realize I was brain dead until I found this station. Started remembering what I was doing at the time these tunes were playing. Great times... Thanks for the memory buzz... The reception at the Sahuarita/Houghton intersection fades out but when a few miles down the road it comes back talk clear. Mt Fagan is in the way. Don't screw up and change your format. By: Jack on April 18, 2015

Greatest radio station ever! Don't change please (except maybe to have a stronger signal) :)
By: jeff on April 25, 2015

Heard this station playing at two job sites and thought it was subscription radio but was informed its over the air! You are gods! Where do i send my check? If i started a station this is exactly the stuff i would play! Love it! Deep cuts is a big market niche.
By: ken on May 8, 2015

Love this station. Where else can you cruise through the desert at 90mph blaring "just What the Doctor Ordered" by Ted Nugent? I commute to Tucson from Seattle every other week and look forward to 98.1 in my car.
By: Mike on May 10, 2015

What is playing 7:15 am Wednesday 5/13. It's AWESOME
By: Gayle on May 13, 2015

FABULOSO .... Absolutely wonderful! Reminds me of the old KQRS radio stations in Minnesota - in Duluth, and Minneapolis, that SADLY have changed a LOT since the 1960'S - 1970's when I used to listen ... No more other different album songs (that are liked and enjoyed( as they seem to play ONLY THE 'HITS'... which if you like certain groups that is BOOOOORRRRRRIIIINNNNGGGG! MASSIVE Congratulations on the format -- we love it here + I can listen to it all day long and HEAR different songs all the time - without predicting what songs are going to be played NEXT! THAT is the 'beauty' of it, truly! again MUCHAS gracias, thank you, merci, grazie, tak, what the heck - in any language it is great - keep up the good job!
By: katsi on May 15, 2015

A co-worker from Elephant head turned me on to your station, have it dialed in on the work truck and at home now. Love that you're playing songs off the old Dylan albums.Want to know if you're going to be listener supported, would work for me.7271

I heard your Radio Station just the other day when Traveling through Nogales Az. I live in Tucson Az I can't pick up your station hear and that Sucks Your station is the best one I'v heard in a LONG time. Thank you so much for making that trip so enjoyable. I so wish that I could listen to you here in Tucson you are GREAT
By: Tina on June 5, 2015

Humble Pie, Steppin wolf, Captinhook, you guys rock!
By: Carl on June 6, 2015

Just found you guys. I often listen to 103.1 Phoenix / Florence when I'm up that way because I so liked their music. Your music is exactly same great stuff (in fact, just one tune ahead of 103.1 if you switch back and forth between both) only a little more local. Still can't get your signal on the NW side of Tucson. So boost your output a little!
By: Jeff on June 8, 2015

Came across your station by accident a week ago. Finally a decent quality radio station for Green Valley. Your music programmers are on a genius level. Would love to know if you play Beck...as his great uncle living in Green Valley it would be appreciated! Keep up the fine work. It is much appreciated!
By: Ken Hansen on June 10, 2015

I listen across the border in Nogales, Sonora, sometimes the signal is great sometimes is weak. I definitely tune in when I drive up to Tucson. I love that you play songs that are not so commercial or mainstream but still great classic rock tunes. One thing I would like is to have access to the playlist... for instance this morning around 7:30 I heard a great song but did not get a chance to Shazam it, I don't know if it was an instrumental song but at least the last minute it was... I came here in hopes of finding out what song it was. Anyway congratulations, keep on rockin' \m/ And like someone else said "don't change, except maybe a stronger signal"
By: Blanche on June 24, 2015

Took my car in to get some major work done. When I got it back the radio was tuned to 98.1. Incredible playlist. Goodbye klpx.
By: Steve on June 26, 2015

Just moved back to Sahuarita from out of state and was happy to find this station while roaming the dial. Great music! Keep it up!
By: Kyle Edwards on July 8, 2015

Hate it when they go off the air for days at a time. C'mon KTBX, You're the best station in the Tucson market. Keep rockin Tucson
By: Tom on July 27, 2015

Just heard your station for the first time on my way home from work. I'm truly impressed! The music radio stations in Tucson are redundant and boring, same 'ol, same 'ol. I hope your music repertoire and diversity continue. Wish you had a "real" website with a playlist. And I wish the reception was better in our neck of the woods - - northwest Tucson. Have put you numero uno on my radio presets, and added you to my Tunein app on my iPhone. Yay!
By: Stacey on July 31, 2015

Dittos on all before! Great reception at southern edge of Oro Valley (33 miles from your transmitter) using an Eton Grundig Edition portable - very good stereo through headphones. Please don't EVER change your wonderful format!
By: Chuck on September 4, 2015

Just moved to Green Valley and found your awesome radio station. A great genre, not your typical station. Please keep up the good tunes. ROCK ON! Thanks.
By: Kevin on September 19, 2015

Dear KTBX, My husband (Colonel, retired) Chris and I (Army Veteran) are on the Ft. Huachuca (Arizona) Military Holiday Ball Committee. Unfortunately, many of our committee members are new and have been unable to secure any donated give-away or raffle items for presentation at the Military Ball on the 4th of December at Starr Pass. If you have any promotional CDs, Support our Troops items, posters, T-shirts or other items you would like to donate, we would be very appreciative. Additionally, if you have any other points of contact at radio stations or other venues who are supporters of the U.S. military, please forward the information to me at my yahoo address. Thank you for supporting the troops! Sue Miller

By: Michelle on December 14, 2015

You guys are awesome! A little hard to pull in sometimes, but well worth the static. I grew up in the SFBA(KSAN days) and I must say your song selections are comparable to some of the best that I ever heard there. I have heard music selections from you guys that I haven't heard in 20yrs+.Love the extended cuts that most Mainstream stations haven't a clue about. I am forever a dedicated listener as long as you broadcast!
By: Rick on December 24, 2015

Some of the tunes I recognize but don't remember who the artist is. Sure would be nice if you had that sub-carrier signal with the tune's info. Or a website. Keep up the good work!
By: JB on January 25, 2016

As I stated in my comment in Jan '15, I have returned for another three months of mountain biking, walking the Anza Train and hiking the beautiful trails in Madera Canyon. I cannot describe the 'rushes' I've experienced biking the Anza Trail while listening to Buffalo Springfield, Yes, the James Gang and of course the Beatles. What an incredible mix of emotions, memories...vibes that resonant all these years and right to today. Music that impacts a lifetime and has such universal meaning. I frequent the noon - 3 PM time slot and the mix is beyond description. Whoever decides what music is to be considered for your 'mixes'....supremely done! You have maintained, or re-discovered, that 'innocence' of the 60s revolution. KTBX, you have my highest respect for a job, SO VERY well done!

By: N and A on July 12, 2016

Took me a long time to discover what's going on at KTBX, but I finally realized that there simply wasn't going to be a DJ jabbering inanely or an ad trying to sell something that nobody needs. Wow. Pop slush does sneak in from time to time, but not much. Mostly an intelligent playlist put together by someone who clearly appreciates organically-grown musicians who were becoming or had become masters of their craft and creativity (beginnings, think Keef'n'Mick and poor Brian in the squalid flat in Edith Grove; Jerry before he was Dead, cross-pollinating musically with nearly everyone in town...). What a gift KTBX is -- many thanks, indeed, to Ted Tucker for providing it. My only lament echoes a few others here: I heard a magnificent cut a couple of days ago that I wasn't familiar with, the band wasn't obvious to me, the attempt to remember enough of the chorus to be able to google it seems to have gotten snagged in brain cells that started going wonky in about 1968, and I have no way to identify who it was. Small price to pay for such a welcome community service though. I hope Ted Tucker finds a way to preserve it as is, on into infinity -- a foundation, perhaps?
By: Grins on July 12, 2016

Great station, listen to it all the time. Sucks when they go off the air though. I've heard a song here a couple times, good hard rock song and thought the name of it might be "Rolling all night" but can't find it anywhere online. Tried itunes and google. There's a few song named rolling but none are the song I hear. Anybody know what song I'm talking about? Would love to get the name of it and who performs it. Thanks
By: Tom on August 26, 2016

I love this station! I am always pleasantly surprised with what is played! Great memories! What a fantastic collection of music. I am an Elton John fanatic and am sometimes brought to tears of joy to hear some of his best unknown songs are making the air waves! Thank you so much!! Keep it up!
By: Janet on August 26, 2016

Absolutely LOVE your station! Like others have said, reminds me of KWFM in the early 70s. So great to hear Jerry Riopelle and Bob Meighan. You are currently off-air, and that always worries me. Please, please don't stop broadcasting!
By: Doris on August 27, 2016

My new favorite station!! I just found your station you rock!! Thank you don't stop!
By: Shelly on August 30, 2016

Haven't tried to tune you in yet--but, Do you stream?
By: John George on August 31, 2016

Please consider adding an RDBS (radio broadcast data system) feed to the channel. It'd be great to look up some of these old, ancient tracks that are played here!
By: KW on September 2, 2016

Any chance of: A. Boosting your signal? I live near Tucson Mall and signal is spotty at best. B. Broadcasting over the web? If you do these two things, you will be my station of choice as there is no denying you play the best music anywhere. Thank you for your consideration
By: Robert on November 4, 2016

I just moved to Tucson from Northern Illinois, Rockford to be exact, last Saturday. I think I found your station on Sunday........my car radio channel has not changed since! Does that tell you anything????? Your station is absolutely, by far, bar none, the BEST station I have ever listened to. I used to stream WXRT out of Chicago, your station even out does them. I am so glad I found you on the Tucson dial. I have yet to hear any Dead or Kinks, hopefully they are on your playlists........You can be assured, I will be listening. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
By: A. Montgomery on November 13, 2016

Please, please, please post a play list. You are the best, but it would be great to be able to track down some of the songs.

Uh, Oh! Station has been off the air for a week. I'm hoping it is just for a holiday vacation. BTW, they also own KCDX 103.1 in Phoenix. I believe they simulcast. I managed to be in a location where I could (barely) pick-up both stations and I heard the same song..
By: JB on December 22, 2016

Please tell me the silence is accidental the past several days. This is the ONLY radio station in the Tucson area I can tolerate. Please get it back up and running???
By: LL Pieper on December 23, 2016

Where are you? We miss our 98.1!
By: Maggie on December 25, 2016

What happened? I have been enjoying ktbx to no end and all of a sudden it vanished, all I get is static at 98.1. I'm in east Tucson and want my great music back. And no, I'm not a robot! Thanks, Jim
By: Jim s. on December 26, 2016

By: R. Neumann on January 6, 2017

To all the listeners requesting a playlist: Good news! 98.1FM KTBX is simulcast, as listener JB observed, with KCDX in Florence/Globe. You can access the playlist at the KCDX radio website. You're welcome! ;-) And God bless and long live Ted Tucker!
By: RNeumann on January 6, 2017

Just wanted to say my brother Phill turned me on to your station. I think he found it by chance. He was like dude you gotta check iut this station they play all the old tunes that you never hear anymore and forgot that you still know the words. He turned me on too it a couple of months ago and My radio in every vehicle i own/drive has stayed on it. Untill last month when I called him one Sunday morning at about 7:00 am waking him to tell him it was gone!! He was more pissed anout the station being gone than me waking him up on a Sunday morning. He called me the other day all giddy "dude" he said "its back on" without saying another word I knew exactly what he was talking about! Glad your back and as everyone before us have stated LOVE your station and music playlist is spot f'ing on!! Keep up the great work!

By: Mark S on March 1, 2017

love the station!the only one I listen to. Great format and no commercials. Please stay on the air for ever .Wish you could cover more of Tucson. I get you on SE side of town .
By: Forrest on March 13, 2017

When I first found your station, it reminded me of when FM was underground music as most listened to AM. The music you play is awsome as it gets, not being the overplayed usual cuts put out by commecial radio. I would like to help out if need be to keep you on the air. All you need to do is ask... KTBX is refreshing and what we listen to on airwave. We get discouraged when you have times of no broadcast as you are second to none... Ray
By: Cactus Ray on March 19, 2017

Are you live streaming yet?
By: Deja vu on April 17, 2017

I love that you are always on 24 hours a day. Takes me back to the late 60's FM radio stations. Long playing tubes and no Constant comercial breaks! You guys ROCK 🎸
By: Linda gibson on April 23, 2017

LOVE your non-Top 40 selections! I listen to you as much as possible. Sometimes I can't get you in Tucson, but that's okay.
By: Dave on May 5, 2017

LOVE-LOVE this station! So PIRATE, no blabbing or commercials, just cool unearthed gems. I wish I could figure out a song played around 8 p.m. Tues 5/31/2017 and would love a streaming playlist to figure out who these B-sides are. I thought it sounded like an obscure Talking Heads, but the song was too good and would have made the charts! "set me free", "my girl", "free my soul" were all phrases throughout...VERY COOL BEAT.... anyone???
By: Anna A on June 1, 2017

What happened? As of two days ago all I get is static.
By: Bruce A on June 3, 2017

No, it's still there, and still awesome. I was listening to it tonight all the way from Broadway and Wilmot to Sahuarita and South Kolb, and it only fuzzed out a bit past the big antennas -- but they fuzz out EVERYTHING. "Dream a Little Dream," "Baby Please Don't Go," "Killer (Queen), "Hold on Tight to Your Dreams" .... reminds me of WNEW-FM, in the 1970s. Google "Mysterious, ad-free radio station draws local fans" to get a bit of background courtesy of the Nogales International. If it's a "ghost station," it can haunt me any time it likes!
By: Leo Nova on June 6, 2017

I'm another "found you by accident" listener. I've been enjoying your incredible lineup for about a year, now. No ads is a definite plus, but I would still listen even if you had a few now and then. Your station takes me back to the early days of FM, high school, and cruising the main drag. Not all of us were fortunate enough to afford a tape deck, so we had to endure the occasional ads although, few. I especially enjoy the "deep cuts" and "B" sides that I haven't heard since my teen years. Thank you for being there, and I hope you're around for years to come!
By: Jennett Swan on June 7, 2017

WOW how AWESOME you are for the great music you play. I was shopping at a second hand store and was buying new CD's for the car. I do not care for all the commercials (more commercials than music) that are on most radio stations. I love music but that is the only time I get to listen is going to & from work o, the grocery store or errands.. Any way I met a customer there that told me to check out 98.1 KTBX! I found the station and told my husband and now hes a big fan. His job has him working all night and driving. Thanks for keeping him up and happy! Thank you so very much! Love It!!
By: CSQ on September 18, 2017

I hope you stay on. I was at a friends in Amado Friday night and I said wow great music. He said this is Tubac. I said h my gosh, I forgot all about that station. I got you in on my other car but I need a better antenna for my new one. How can I stream you onilne? Thank you Christine Tucson, AZ
By: Christine Duval on September 25, 2017

Holy Sheeet! The best Tucson radio station since the 70's KWFM. FINALLY! You people completely kick KLPX 96 & KLPX 2 to the curb! I stumbled on your station at my folks house last weekend looking for something to listen to while painting their kitchen. Skipping through the HD stations, found your station playing a song by The Jeff Beck Group - Cool! Left it on for the rest of the afternoon. Jawdropped what I heard! I just bought a HD radio for my eastside workshop, & hooked it up through our intercom system. The office crew and the everyone in the shop LOVES your station! We stopped listening to KLPX years ago because of their endless brainwashing repetition of the same tired 70's - 80's "Classic Rock" crapola playlist - I had too many complaints about 96 rock like, "Pleeeese turn this off! OH MY GOD! - I can't take it anymore!". Everyone started listening to news and music through their phones. You guys are f-ing great! We really enjoy all the one-off left field bands most of all, and the REAL deep cuts from cool bands that would be considered "B-List" bands and artists. THANKS FOR GETTING IT RIGHT! (P.S. We have three guys here in their 20's that dig the music as much as the rest of us in our 50's!)
