Listener Comments and Reviews

Hi, I’m working with air medical response providers. I’d like to talk to you about some challenges providers are facing and how it might impact your listeners. Happy to provide background and hopefully set up an interview with one of our partners. Many thanks, Lauren Garrett

As a psychologist, I would like to share some crucial ways to prepare for the reopening of our country. The guidelines for protecting ourselves and our loved ones from COVID-19, like social distancing, may be clear but changes in behavior require practice. Doing so before we leave our homes could make the difference between life and death. Many people have benefitted from relaxation and meditation in coping with stress while staying at home. Some of the techniques your listeners may want to learn and use before leaving their homes include mental rehearsal while under relaxation, desensitization, rapid relaxation, and pre-playing assertiveness. By way of introduction, here is my biographical sketch: Ronald G. Nathan, Ph.D. is a practicing psychologist and an award-winning, former Professor at Albany Medical College who developed the country’s first required stress management course for medical students. Dr. Nathan co-authored Stress Management: A Comprehensive Guide to Wellness (1981, 2004) which was both a Book-of-the-Month Club and a Prevention Book Club selection. Dr. Nathan’s interview about New Year’s resolutions with USA Today made front-page news and his work has been featured in Men’s Health, Cosmopolitan, and Family Circle. Dr. Nathan served as an Associate Editor of the American Journal of Health Promotion for eight years. Since 1998, he has contributed and updated the "Stress" entry for The World Book Encyclopedia.
