Listener Comments and Reviews

Just wondering if you announce special events for people over the radio. If so, could I tell you about my special event coming up on Saturday, March 23rd in Elbridge, NY for all of your listeners to hear? Thank you

Dear Mr. Delmonico - I'm writing to express my increasing disgust with the classless chatter that happens on the radio during the times when I am driving to/from work. It is really coming to a point where I will just find my news/traffic/weather elsewhere than WSYR because it is becoming offensive. Here are my examples from this week: Mark Wainwright explaining to men how to buy lingerie for their woman for Valentine's day. Classless waste of air time. What about the parents who are driving kids in the car when this is on? He spent 5 minutes to include details of "not guessing on the size," "take a pair from the drawer with you to the store." ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Health Laws???!! Privacy???!! The other issue was talking about the Grammy trophy that he had the opportunity to see in person. He used the word "fondle" - for how he encountered the trophy. REALLY - three times he used that word. Just because the FCC doesn't choke these guys (like the old days) for suggestive content or poor taste they get away with it? Plus, he really does by and large a poor job of interviewing people - he "leads the witness" and tells what he wants the audience to hear and basically asks the interviewed person no question at all. He guides them to agree with the proposed theory he throws out there. How boring. Bob Lounsberry has by and large been a good asset to the station but he also uses such crass comments that are offensive - referencing someone "popping the cherry" was one from the other week. For as much as he presents himself as a "Christian" person, he doesn't hold back with really inappropriate language that is generally offensive. Last year I wrote to him to ask him to STOP with the many, many references to women's breasts and how much he wished he had a date with Dolly Parton, etc. Such degrading of women - to reduce them to body parts and function - is inappropriate. Some of the commentary borders on locker room rants. In other cases, he does a better job of being thoughtful in choosing his words. I understand that he gets ratings when he presents the issues in a lively, entertaining way. But doing that well without being a boor is certainly an art form. Both of these guys need a talking-to. Let's raise the class level of media communications in Syracuse.

I sincerely and genuinely wish Mark Wainwright the very best of health. However, please consider NOT extending his contract. Kindly restore Dave Allen. Thank you.

Please put Ryan McMann back on at three. He has been a calming presentation during this virus time. It is my only means of getting facts rather than opinions. He was elected and has more than shown his abilities. The man is from Syracuse and has the city in his heart. Is 30 minutes to long a time to give up. Until the crisis is over. Dan Dow

Saturday evening on October 9th, tried to call over a dozen times to the news hotline, 9797. No one answered. The problem was the wrong program was on the air? There was a national computer show. Art Bell some where in time on Coast to Coast is supposed to be on. Went to WFLA another IHeart affiliate, they had Art Bell. What the hell is wrong with WSYR??? This has happened in the past or dead silence. Stop being cheap and have an engineer on at all times. Will write a letter to FCC also about right wing totally anti government, anti vaccine, and pro resurrection radio programs.
