PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE     INTERNTIONALLY RENOWNED POET RETURNS TO MEDINA   FOR POETRY & MUSIC WORKSHOP & PERFORMANCE 810 MEADWORKS IN MEDINA    MEDINA, New York, August 29, 2016 - Relentless poet and tireless arts advocate, Craig Czury, who has spent three decades conducting poetry, life-writing, and writing as healing workshops in schools, universities, community centers, juvenile detention centers, homeless shelters, and mental hospitals, will return to Medina to give a Music and Poetry Workshop and Poetry Performance - a funky jam of music & literary - at 810 Meadworks, Friday, September 9, 2016. The poet will share works from his books, as well as from recent poems written during his 2016 reading tour in Northern Italy. Czury’s early adulthood was spent hitchhiking North America, working carnivals, warehouses, canneries, construction crews, restaurant kitchens, and organizing community poetry readings. It is from his childhood growing up in the anthracite coal region of Pennsylvania, from his experiences during 15 years of hitchhiking, and from his continued travels all over the world that Czury’s indomitable spirit springs colorfully forth into his poetry. A featured poet at International Poetry Festivals across the globe, Czury is published in numerous national and international literary journals. Author of over 20 books of poetry, his poems have been translated into Arabic, Spanish, Russian, Lithuanian, Portuguese, German, Chinese, Macedonian, Croatian, Albanian, and Italian. For the past 45 years of study and writing poety, he has worked with some of the preeminent poets in the country. He has been a poetry educator for the past 30 years and tireless advocate of poetry in our communities who teaches part-time at Albright College in Reading, PA. Czury is also an avid blues harp player. The Music & Poetry Workshop will be held at from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the Bee Garden at 810 Meadworks, 113 W. Center Street, Medina, NY. Participants are encouraged to bring their own writing to share in the workshop - and to bring whatever musical instruments they wish. A collaborative, multi-voice Poetry Performance will follow at the same location, beginning at 8:00 pm. This event is funded in part by Poets & Writers with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
