Listener Comments and Reviews

I'm a 63 year young broadcaster who spent from 1967 to 2004 working for 7 radio stations in 4 states as air personality, manager, and account executive. Mixed feelings about WMRP. Great nostalgia call letters; WMRP was the old 1570 AM now WCK owned by Cumulus in Mundy Twp. Love the stations format of Inspirational Country. Constructive criticisms: no public service announcements except one that is run continually to the point of irritation; no announcer to tell us the name of the artist or song; No phone number for feedback and when it is occassionally announced they hint listener comments will air and they never do; the one voice track they have MISPROUNCES "Mundy Township" as MONDAY Township (hurts credibility, sounds tacky). The fellow on the phone that the website lists as owner turned down my request to record, at no charge, some "liners" or voice tracks explaining or promoting the station; the FCC i thought wanted low power FM to broadcast public service announcements as commercial hi power stations are required to do. Why doesn't ownership or manager of WMRP approach churches and run brief 10 second pre recorded ads for area non profits or churches? The music is great but again when i offered on the phone to share my massive 5000 CD collection of inspirational country i was told thanks but no thanks, yet i notice there's lots of repetition in the music rotation. In short, most broadcasters in the area feel as i do "nice effort, unique concept; you can get it all over Genesee County, but why not accept offers from retired pros such as myself (i run a successful one person dj service and have done 4 national radio commercials) to give the air sound more polish?
