Listener Comments and Reviews

I listen to K Love 88.3 very often at home and all the time in my car. I love Christian music. My son became a "born again Christian" about 3 years ago, my prayers have been answered. He had a band and wrote and played Allernative music before and now God has led him to write Christian music. He and his wife write the lryics and music. He has submitted songs the past three years to "National Songs of the Year" contest and has made the top four each year. He has a Web page presented by them for his accomplishments which you can see by entering, Song of the Year Awards, Robert Wallace. One song, "The Lords Prayer" he wrote his rendition of and sang it at the closing of his dads funeral last Oct. 10, 2010, it was very impressive. If I send you a CD of these four songs would you consider playing them on your station? God bless, Betty L. Wallace

Time: 30 seconds TITLE: Learn to Meditate – Workshop: Anyone can learn to meditate. It’s easy, inexpensive, and it doesn’t require any special equipment. And you can practice meditation wherever you are: out walking, riding in a car or bus, watching television, waiting in line at the grocery store or sitting in the middle of a difficult business meeting! There are many benefits: improve your health, increase your happiness, expand your focus & attention, and make you more compassionate & wiser. When you learn to meditate every day, it’s as if your pockets were being emptied of heavy sandbags; & you begin to enjoy life with a greater intensity! Led by the author of “800 Stepping Stones to Complete Relaxation.” It’s free…, Saturday, October 31st – at 2 p.m. - at the TN Valley Unitarian Church, 2931 Kingston Pike, 4-blocks west of the UT business district! For information & 3-Easy Meditations, email: … mikewright102348@gmail.com or … call (865)851-9535! END The Workshop helps individuals gather “top of the line” information. Practical tips from dozens of books & authors: Oprah Book Club, to the ancient writings of Socrates and Pythagoras, magazine articles, to special movies! Author Michael Wright, says, “Anyone can learn to meditate. Meditation can carry you more calmly through your day; and give you stepping stones into your future.” I’m doing this as a Public Service to help anyone “Learn to Meditate,” 1-minute a day or 20-minutes a day. There is no charge, and nothing is sold. The Workshop & Classes are my way of “giving back!” Learn the basics: who, what, when, where, why & how? Create your own personal meditations! Reduce stress & worry. Reduce anger & fear. Help with sleep issues, weight issues, healing processes & more. Use meditation to control drug & alcohol abuse. Learn to practice contentment & tranquility. There is no charge, but recommend a “Donation of time, food or money” to Hospitality Pantries, 523-7900. It delivers food daily, to anyone that needs it. The Workshop will cover many levels & types of meditation: breathing, relaxation, visualizations, projection, dream & sleep, light & sound, chanting, self & soul, & maximizing awareness. One of the most practical & useful meditation is “proper breathing.” The more oxygen, the better the brain works, the better the muscles work, and the less anxiety. In tense situations the jaw tightens & you forget to breathe in the nose & mouth at the same time. Proper Breathing Meditation (3-seconds): Repeat Silently, 3-times: “Relax Jaw…” Your mouth will open slightly and you can feel the cool air on the roof of your mouth! Repeat off & on during the day, especially anytime you catch your mouth closed! Another “Breathing Meditation” is from a magazine article on Billy Mills, the Olympic 1964 Gold Metal 10,000 meter winner. Billy grew up on an Indian Reservation in South Dakota. He loved to run as a boy. When he was 10 years, he stopped under a shade tree, trying to catch his breath and second wind. There were three old Indians sitting under the tree. One of the Indians walked up and started telling about running, fifty years earlier as a small boy. Back then, the Indian boys, who did not have horses, had to run & run & run. He gave Billy an Indian Breathing Chant. The magazine article continued, and Billy talked about his “last lap” in the Olympic 10,000 meter race. He was side by side with Ron Clark (Australian World Record holder), as they were about to lap slower runners. Ron Clark, on the inside, saw this and elbowed Billy. Then, Ron shot ahead, and around the slower runners. Billy was knocked off stride, and another runner from Ethiopia passed him. Billy talks about using the Indian Breathing Chant. The more he chanted, the more his muscles relaxed, and the faster he went. It was a major Olympic upset; no American, before or since, has won the Olympic 10,000 meter race. A movie was made of Billy Mill’s life in 1983, Running Brave (youtube.com). American Indian Breathing Chant: Divide your lungs into 3-sections: front, middle & back. Sing or Chant Hu, 6-times (aloud or silently, pronounced hue)! As Chant Hu Hu, visualize the letters in the front area of both lungs; Chant Hu Hu & see the letters in middle area…; Chant Hu Hu & visualize the letters in the back area of your lungs! Your mouth naturally drops open; & you breathe in the mouth & nose at the same time! Michael says, “He began using this Indian Breathing Meditation while playing basketball on the University of Tennessee outside courts as a junior, and it was amazingly helpful. He recommends using it while walking, bicycling or exercising.” Chanting or singing Hu… (hue) is like a tuning fork. The more you chant Hu (aloud or silently), the more you tune to the soul-beat within you. And, the more relaxed & the more aware you become! HOMEWORK: EVERY DAY PRACTICE 3-MEDITATIONS (1-BREATHING, 1-VISUALIZATION, & 1-SOUND) 1) Create Your Own Meditation (1-2 minutes): Collect inspiring phases (or quotes) from songs, books, & movies. Put them in a vase; & every morning pull one out before you leave home. Tape it to your car dash or work desk wall. Off & on during the day, repeat the phase 3-times, & wonder: “What does it mean? Why is it interesting? Why did the writer, write it?” OPTION: Write the phrase or quote 3-times in your journal (morning, around noon, & at night); & write any insight! 2) Re-Program Your Brain with Positive Thoughts (8-15 seconds): Example: Silently repeat, “CONTENTMENT” 3-TIMES.Then ADD, “APPRECIATE CONTENTMENT” & repeat 3-TIMES. THEN ADD, “APPRECIATE FEELING CONTENTMENT,” & repeat 3-TIMES! Repeat 4-6 times (9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm…). Type 30-Postive Thoughts(20 font); cut & put in Jar or vase. THEN, Pick a new “Positive Thought” every Sunday; & tape to your refrigerator. In the Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin, Ben meditated on 13-positive thoughts for 13-weeks: contentment, chastity, cleanliness, frugality, humility, industry, silence, sincerity, resolution, moderation, order, & tranquility. Napoleon Hill, Think & Grow Rich, meditations: peace of mind, love & romance, hope & faith, sound health, & financial security. Plato (ancient Greek) meditations: temperance, prudence, courage, & justice! Aristotle meditations: harmony, ethics, virtue, beauty, nature, wisdom, balance, soul, enlightenment, & truth! More choices: love, freedom, divine love, compassion, goodwill, honesty, patience, beloved, power, being, knowing, seeing, success, discipline, golden heart, wonder, sacred, intuition, sovereignty, self-realized, protection, liberation , karma, useful work, relaxation, giving, observing, healing, trust, becoming, grace, strength, growth, happiness, discrimination, purpose, gratitude, reverence, understanding, strength, & self-reliance! Option: WRITE the 3-TIMES MEDITATION, in a Journal (morning, noon & night)! It takes 8-15 seconds of attention to program the brain! In 12-weeks, the quality of your life will improve. In 30-weeks, you will have a Master’s Degree. 3) IS IT TRUE? IS IT NECESSARY? & IS IT KIND? – Meditation (4-6 seconds): REPEAT SILENTLY… BEFORE YOU TALK! If it does not meet all three; then, consider not saying! It works with actions, & doing as well! Consider in all decision making! Sometimes, you go with 2 of 3! Learn from your mistakes! Minimize Karma! ======================================================================================================================================= ** ADDITIONAL READING ** LIBRARY (books & movies) ** youtube.com (films, documentary, see almost everything) ** ** INTERNET RESEACH (google) ** McKay’s Books (used, west Knoxville) ** amazon.com ** Computer (movies - Netflix, $8.55 per month) ** (google): Time magazine Aug. 2004, “The Science of Meditation – Here’s how it works!” & Jan. 17, 2014 - “We need to Take Meditation More Seriously as Medicine.” Google search (meditation, articles): Forbes, Natural News, topics NY Times, Huffington Post, Psychology Today, Medical News & Mayo Clinic. www.
