This station was a very popular soul/R&B for about 40 years as 1470 WRBD, which stood for "Rockin' Bid Daddy." Its studio and transmitter are still located at Rock Island Road and 44th in Lauderhill, Florida (near Sunrise, Florida). For a while, many of the WRDB personalities did night time soul/R&B shifts on their sister FM 102.7, which was known as WRBD and, later WCKO-FM, because WRBD-AM 1470 was a daytime only broadcaster at the time. WRBD was eventually purchased by Beasley in the early 90s and WWNN 980's Health and Motivational brokered programming was moved to 1470, which still broadcasts today as "WWNN 1470 The Winners News Network." Today, the Rock Island Road property is only serving as a transmitter site; it has no functional studios and WWNN's programming originates from Beasley Boca Raton-based studios. For very brief period, the studios for WSRF 1580 were based inside the old WRBD facilities--WSRF at the time was homeless and used the Rock Island facility until they build new studios.
