Waaaaay back in the day, this was a 20 year strong heritage rocker, South Florida iconic rocker, "103.5 WSHE, She's Only Rock n' Roll" from 1972 to 1996. The calls are now used by a station in Chicago at 100.3 FM. The station started out as WWIL-FM in 1959. In 1968 it changed it calls to WSRF-FM (it sister AM was WSRF 1580) and ran an MOR Beautiful Music format until 1972. Then it flipped to rock. In 1996 it went "alternative" (Modern AC format) with new calls WPLL as "Planet Radio," a female-leading alt format (lots of Tori Amos and Spin Doctors). In 1999, it went Jammin' Oldies as WMGE, "Mega 103.5." By the end of 2002 it became WMIB with an Urban Contemporary/hip hop mixed station. By mid 2012, WMIB flipped to adult hits as "WSHE She 103-5" having nothing to do with the iconic WSHE format from 1972 to 1996. By 2013, the station returned to the WMIB calls as 103.5 The Beat" an Urban hip hop format, which still runs today. The "Jammin Oldies from WMGE live on WMIB's 103.5 HD-3 subchannel, which runs a classic hip hop format, known as "Throwback 105.5" which runs on a translator; W288DD. Until 1972, and after a call letter change to WSRF-FM in 1968,
